HOW TO MEASURE FOR A MAT LIKE THE PROS--
OR...Message us with your art size and we'll gladly calculate it for you!
1) MEASURE YOUR ARTWORK-
You'll want to measure your artwork in inches to the 1/8".
We are unable to cut in centimeters.
This will determine the WINDOW size of your mat.
The window will be cut 1/4" smaller than the measurement that you give us to allow for a proper fit.
EXAMPLE- If your art is 8x10 the window will be cut to 7 3/4" x 9 3/4"
Let us know if you don't want to 1/4" overlap and we'll cut the mat exact.
2) CALCULATE THE OUTER MAT & FRAME SIZE
To calculate the OUTSIDE dimensions, double the mat border size and add it to the artwork dimensions.
We recommend a mat border size of 1.5", 2" or 3"
EXAMPLE- If your artwork is 8x10 and you want a 2" mat you are adding 4" to the overall size the artwork. 8+4= 12 , 10+4= 14, Your frame and mat size are 12x14.
Another... if your artwork is 5x7 and you want a 1.5" mat you're adding 3" to overall size making the frame and mat size 8x10
3) SELECT THE SAME MAT AND FRAME SIZE
Mat and frame size should be a minimum of 2" larger than your artwork.
Message us if your sizes aren't listed in the drop down menu
EXAMPLE- If your artwork is 16x20, your frame and mat size can be no smaller than 18x22
4) LEAVE US YOUR ARTWORK SIZE IN PERSONALIZATION
In the "personalization" please enter the size of the art or photo that you are matting.
The art size needs to be a maximum of 2" smaller than the outside of the mats dimensions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if my frame size isn't listed on your drop down menu?
We cut all our frames to order so a custom size is not a problem and is no extra charge. The sizes listed on the drop down menu are some of the more common sizes and they'll give you an idea of what a frame in your size range will run.
What if I'm framing a painting on canvas?
Be sure to let us know if we're framing a painting on stretcher bars or a canvas board and we'll include the appropriate clips to hold your artwork into the frame and will not include glass unless you request it.
Can I get a frame in a custom color?
Unfortunately, we don't do custom colors at this time.
How do calculate the outside dimensions of my frame?
Near the top of the frame description we will have the size of the profile listed.
For Example-"This frame measure 1.5" across the top"
just double the measurement of the top of the frame and add it to the size that you ordered
In this example you would add 3" (1.5" x 2) to the size that you ordered.
If you ordered and 8x10 frame the outside dimensions would be
11x13.
